There are many types of programs available to move you forward from where you are now. These include going back to school, taking a home study course, online courses or attending live seminars to name a few. Regardless of what method you choose, reviewing and understanding these 5 keys points will help ensure your success once you start.
Instructor or the group providing the course is a key consideration, the instructor cannot always be picked of course but in the case of live seminars or home study courses this is a choice we have. In this case I would recommend watching The Secret, since it provides many different teachers for your review. Another way is to watch videos many of them use to promote their programs. Chances are if you like what you see and hear you will be ok taking a more involved course with them and of course the opposite is also true.
Type of instruction used is another key area. For example if you enjoy reading and like doing exercises in a workbook then a course that uses mainly audio to get the message across may not be good for you. As well a live seminar will be a very different experience than a home study program even if the material covered is essentially the same.
Technology used to deliver the material is closely related to the type of instruction but is important on its own. For example having audio files that can be easily downloaded to an iPod and listened to almost anywhere is a huge benefit for some. In addition you don't have to wait to have CD's shipped to your home to begin the course. Online courses are popular in part because of the convenience of not having to attend a class at a school or university but instead can be taken at home and in some cases at the student's own pace. There is also a safety factor involved in areas that have weather issues such as road conditions in rural areas during winter.
Subject matter is an obvious one to some but it is helpful to understand before signing up what it is that is covered. Some courses are general in nature and cover many areas, while others are very specific. For example in the self help area, some courses attempt to cover all areas of life while others specify a certain area, such as creating wealth.
Finally, there is you. Your state of willingness, readiness, interest and excitement will be the make or break element in any self-improvement undertaking. It will require your time and commitment and in some cases a significant amount of money. Reviewing what it is you want to get out of the course, your expectations and what you are willing to put into it are all things to consider before jumping in.
Reviewing these five areas before you start can help increase your chance of success and growth and that's what any self-improvement goal is all about.

Law of Attraction - Why So Serious? Try These 7 Ways of Having Fun With It
The Law Of Attraction is often referred to and associated with manifesting our life's dreams and ambitions. If you look at it like any other skill or ability, you can get better with practice. By applying this law to the small things in your daily life you may find that with practice you get better at it. This can lead to higher confidence in attracting the bigger things in your life. At this point there would be not stopping you!
Below are seven ways a person can have fun with practicing the law of attraction on a daily basis. Remember, this is supposed to be fun, so if you find your not as successful as you want don't get discouraged, keep attracting.
1 Parking spaces - I know if you already read/watched/heard The Secret you are aware of this one. The idea here is finding the best parking spaces with little or no effort, at work, grocery store etc. What I do is expect it as I'm approaching the parking lot and drive to the best location as if I have a spot reserved for me.
2. Item on sale - Your looking for that special something or maybe that special something to go on sale. This may not manifest as quickly as the parking spot, but you can still try it.
3. Sports - this one is wide open, expecting to sink that putt, get a base hit on this next pitch, score a goal in the next game, you get the idea.
4. Think of someone you have not seen or heard from for a long time - when they do appear or call or otherwise get in touch, take notice of how long it took from the time you thought of them.
5. Expect to find something you lost, especially if you have already looked and given up on finding it, just expect that it will turn up without you even trying. You of course can try this with something you need to find more urgently but it may not be as much fun if there is more time pressure.
6. Expect a certain score on a test, not just that you will do well but try to narrow down the actual mark you will get.
7. Expect to wake up at a certain time. This should be attempted without an alarm clock or outside assistance, you may want to try it on a day you don't have to get up by a certain time. There are techniques for this practice as well that are part of larger programs of meditation and dreaming effectively.

Internal Controls - Critical to Individuals & Business
Internal controls in business consist of people and processes that are in place that ensure the company operates within the laws and regulations, that financial statements are accurate and represent the business operations and that the objectives of the company are met.
These are more important than ever with the latest financial and economic crisis. Personal lives are also impacted of course and now more than ever we need to have our own internal controls.
One of these, abiding by laws and regulations is simple for most of us, recognizing that society needs some structure to work safely and efficiently.
Having good records of our financial situation is another internal control good for individuals as well as businesses. For example budgeting is a useful tool to not only track where the money goes but also to help make sound decisions.
Achieving our own goals and objectives also requires good internal controls. This is where discipline, belief, faith and purpose play a role in moving us forward. Being able to continue toward a goal, despite appearances to the contrary, is a hallmark of many successful ventures.
Just as a company has a system of checks and balances to monitor progress, an individual can also do the same. There are many types of quality systems out there that help to prioritize and monitor your progress.
Individuals, however also rely more heavily on emotion, which if used correctly can let us know if we are moving in the right direction. Learning to develop our intuition combined with a system to monitor our progress can be powerful in starting and sustaining you on your journey to success.

Live a Healthy Life - Emulate a Tree

Today there is a lot of talk of green ways of doing things, both for business and individuals alike. Whether it is to save the planet or for competitive advantage, the environment is front stage for most of us in some way or another. Trees are a big part of the mix, an essential element of the environment most would agree, but they also can serve as shining examples of how we can live healthier lives as well.
For example, healthy trees have healthy roots to provide nourishment and stability, the part of the plant we don't see. This can be compared to our own foundation spiritually, what you can't see from the outside but still critical to our stability and health.
Tree bark provides protection against the elements, this we can learn from, as having a thick skin can be useful to our overall health and wellness also. Not being easily swayed by the words or actions of others, but moving forward to achieving our goals.
Leaves show the outside world the state of the health and wellness of the tree, just as we do with our appearance.
Habitat for other creatures of course is something a lot of trees provide, representing being part of the whole, giving back to the community.
Trees grow higher (most do) with age, something we should strive for is to reach ever higher to become all that we can.
Trees provide seeds for new growth, here again, this is something we can learn from, both for ourselves and for others and our children. Much of what we do today to help others succeed and get started can bring benefits to ourselves and others in the future.
The next time you look at a tree remember that we have more in common than it may first appear.

Attracting Financial Success With Creative Thought- 5 Methods to Stay on Course After the Course
Much of what is written about the law of attraction, achieving abundance and a full life and manifesting your desires centers around thought. Thoughts become things, it's the starting point for all the good stuff to follow. Many books and courses suggest to start with thinking about what you want, in as much detail as possible. Before you ask for something you have to identify what it is you want.
Thinking what you want regardless of appearances to the contrary is an area I believe to be critical to success and at the same time easy to drift away from on a daily basis. Drifting away from your goal(s) can be easy if all your thoughts are a reaction to what you see around you. Below I have included five ways you can help yourself to keep your mind and subconscious on what it is you want despite appearances or conditions that would suggest otherwise.
Visualize having it already, meditation, writing it down, positive affirmations, feeling gratitude for receiving it, all work with the mind and subconscious to keep you focused on what it is you desire. All of these methods are good, but only if you apply them. Ideally all of them combined would be the most beneficial, however, what works for one person does not necessarily work for all. In other words, you have to find what works for you and go with it. As with most things in life, the more easy and enjoyable something is, the more likely you will do it on a frequent basis. Most people are busy, they begin with an oppressive to do list each day and struggle to get it done. If this is you then you probably want something you can easily build around your routine, or even better, into your routine.
1. Visualize your dream or goal while you are brushing your teeth, for example, if you do this twice a day every day, that's a lot of visualizing. The idea is to do this while you are involved in some task that you do daily that does not require a lot of your brain power.
2. Meditation is another method you can use, there is plenty of good material out there to learn more about this. While it requires a little time the benefits can be huge for not just helping you think what you want despite what is going on around you, but it helps you to get in touch with your inner self, develop your intuition etc.
3. Writing your goals down on paper daily can help you to clarify what it is you want, and even more effective, doing it in a manner that assumes you have it already. This is a great way to keep momentum if you are someone who likes to work with lists and prefers writing things down anyway.
4. Positive affirmations, whether you read them aloud or listen to them on your Ipod for example can be of benefit, again the key here is to build this into your daily routine. For example, first thing in the morning, or last thing before going to bed. Listening to yourself you can become your number one cheerleader, you won't have to seek positive reinforcement from outside, you have it from within and on demand.
5. Gratitude, feeling thankful for receiving it already, this is a powerful one indeed. I like this one because it seems to have far reaching implications. When you are in an attitude of gratitude as they say, your energy changes because you focus on what you are thankful for and not on what you don't have. If this one gives you difficulty, start with being grateful for what you have already, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, take it in small steps and work your way up gradually.
These are just some of the ways you can help to keep yourself on track after the excitement has diminished from reading that great book or taking that awesome course. The important thing is to use what works best for you and go with it.

7 Characteristics of Evolved People
http://www.dollarsandscience.com/
One way to define evolve is "to develop into something more complex or advanced". When it comes to evolved people the seven characteristics below, while not meant to be complete, would seem to be indicative of someone who is advanced but I think for the most part they are simple and not complex in nature. This doesn't mean they are easy to achieve all the time. How many of these define you?
Gratitude - not just for someting given to you by someone but sincere gratitude for the little things most take for granted.
Give without expecting something in return - giving to family, community, charities not with the intent to get something in return but for the sake of giving.
Forgiveness - not judging others and not holding a grudge.
Celebrate life - many see life as one big mystery or problem to solve. Evolved people have the same issues to deal with but make celebration and appreciation the priority over problem solving at the expense of everything else.
Talking to yourself - I am guilty of this one. This referst to listening to yourself, not just talking. The emphasis is on listening to what is going on inside more than the "noise" outside.
Happiness - evolved people choose this over any alternatives. In other words they don't need drama and the latest crisis to feel something worthwhile.
Understand the value of downtime - evolved people use downtime or quiet time to pause and reflect, turn inward, meditate.
Becoming more aware of these traits can help us on our journey to becoming what it is we desire, especially if we want to evolve!
